Cushman Students Get Out of the Classroom and Into the
Hearts of America’s Soldiers
Friday, January 3, Students Pack School Donations and Prepare Care Packages for Soldiers in Afghanistan
Who: Seventy-five middle school students from The Cushman School in Miami.
What: Cushman students, teachers and parents support the “Cushman Cares Program” to pack a little “home” in boxes intended for soldiers in Afghanistan who receive little or no mail from loved ones. This service project supports America’s Moms for Soldiers efforts to support soldiers fighting for our country. Families school-wide were asked to donate various needed items (and some just for fun!) during the month of January. Those items will be packed along with letters written, drawn and created by Cushman students.

About America’s Moms for Soldiers:
The organization sends monthly care packages to soldiers, marines and airmen serving in Iraq and Afghanistan who receive no or little mail from home. Many of the servicemen and women supported are assigned to Forward Operation Bases or Outposts where they do not have access to basic items such as snacks, hygiene supplies, or personal health articles. They work directly with chaplains and commanders to coordinate efforts to provide support to those who do not receive care packages from home. For additional information visit: www.americasmomsforsoldiers.com. Call 954-358-9358 you are interested in setting up a similar care package program for your school or organization.
